The executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS Professor Mohammad Nasir Sambo has reaffirmed the determination of the agency in providing necessary support in the fight against Covid 19 pandemic in the Country.
Professor Mohammad Nasir Sambo stated this during the presentation of Personal Protective Equipments provided by the NHIS to some accredited Health care providers in Kano.
She explained that the NHIS deemed it necessary to provide PPE’S as a form of palliatives to accredited health care providers with the aim of curtailing the spread of the virus.
The executive Secretary who was represented by the General Manager, Zonal and State Offices Department, Mrs Asma’u Sarki Mohammad said in a bid to ease the Hardship faced by health care providers ,it had already made payments for three months to health care providers,aimed at insuring that enrollees were not stranded .
Professor Mohammad Nasir Sambo added that the provision of the Palliatives was part of the agency’s Social Corporate Responsibility.
Receiving the palliatives on behalf of the State Government, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa said the PPE’s would play a vital role in the aspect of preventing both health personnel and patients from contracting the virus .
The Commissioner who was represented by the Director Medical And Health Services of the Ministry Dr Shehu Usman Abdullahi applauded the support provided by NHIS ,saying the Ministry would ensure judicious use of the PPE’s.
Some of the personal protective equipments Donated include Hand sanitizers, Handgloves among others.
