NGO WANTS YOUTHS TO SHUN VIOLENCE DURING EDO AND ONDO GOVERNORSHIP ELECTIONS

A Non Governmental Organization, Youth Forum For Development In Africa wants youths to avoid been used to forment trouble in the forthcoming governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States. The National Coordinator of the Organization on, Comrade Paschal Anyanwu made the call at a forum organised by the NGO in Abuja. Comrade Anyanwu who expressed concern over the involment of some youths in thuggery and Violence during elections said the time has come for youths to avoid been used by selfish politicians in achieving their unpatriotic political ambition. According to him, youths should always be in the forefront of ensuring credible elections. He stated that only credible elections could gurantee good governance in the nation’s electoral system. Comrade Anyanwu explained that the Organization would continue to sensitize youths on issues that would make them responsible citizens towards contributing to national development. The National Coordinator therefore solicited support and collaboration from well meaning Nigerians to enable the NGO realize it’s objectives of raising patriotic and committed youths that would reposition Nigeria for greatness. In a remark, the FCT Director of Youth Forum For Development In Africa, Chief Christian Onyekachi said measures had been put in place to train some youths in the FCT on skills acquisition to make them self reliant and contribute to economic development of the Territory. Chief Onyekachi expressed the Organization’s readiness to collaborate with relevant Government’s agencies and corporate Organizations on programmes that would promote youth development in the FCT. He also advised youths in the Territory to always be good ambassadors and engage in positive activities that would make them useful to their communities.
