The Federal Government has been urged to provide a mechanism for easy access to agricultural loans and grants for youths and farmers to grow agriculture and the nation’s economy.
The National President of a Non Governmental Organisation, Youth For Agriculture Nigeria, Mr Timothy Onwura made the call in Abuja at the Inauguration of an Agro Industrial Programme and youth empowerment.
Mr Onwura who said the programme was aimed at training youths on modern farming techniques said the organisation had registered over two million youths from the thirty six states and the FCT.
Mr Onwura while stressing the need for civil servants to key into the programme, called on the federal government to make access to loan facilities easy for farmers especially youths.
On his part, the Vice President of the organisation, Mr Manga Asher pointed out that the programme was inline with president Muhammadu Buhari’s quest to diversify the nation’s economy.
Also, the Director of the partnering organisation,Mr Oraka Nnaemeka said the organisation had put measures in place to bridge the gap between youths and financial institutions for easy access to loans from financial institutions.
