The Northern Governors Forum has felicitated with Muslims and Nigerians on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir.
In a statement, the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Plateau says the occasion calls for sober reflection, gratitude to God and more prayers for God’s protection and deliverance of the nation from its current challenges.
According to the statement, celebration of Eid-el-Kabir calls for sacrifice by Nigerians particularly leaders who have been saddled with the responsibility of managing the affairs of the nation and ensuring that unity, peace, justice and development is achieved.
It describes Nigerians as loving and peaceful with respect for one another irrespective of their differences.
The statement further states that despite the activities of a few that are desperate to propagate a negative narrative of discord and acrimony, most Nigerians are tolerant and compassionate.
According to the statement , this realization has made the Northern Governors Forum to strengthen Synergy with stakeholders and engagement with citizens in addressing the security challenges of the nation that are prevalent in the region and have become a major source of concern.
It says the situation cannot be allowed to bring the citizens to despair and hopelessness as no tough situation is permanent and beyond redemption.
The statement urges Muslims and all Nigerians to remain steadfast in working and praying for the peace, unity and progress of Nigeria and extending God’s blessings to each other irrespective of religious, tribal, political or other affiliations.
It congratulates the National Assembly for passing the long waited Petroleum Industry Bill , which will facilitate the exploration and exploitation of oil and gas resources in other parts of the country for the economic benefit of the nation.
