NEPZA Receives C of O For Textiles & Garments Park, Katsina

The Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority, NEPZA, has received the Certificate of Occupancy, C of O for the site of the Textiles and Garment Park in Funtua, Katsina State.

Receiving the C of O in Abuja from the Director General of Investment Promotion Agency, Katsina State, Alhaji Ibrahim Tukur, the Managing Director of NEPZA, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba said the park was part of the Special Economic Zones project approved by the Federal Executive Council, FEC.

Prof. Adesoji Adesugba stated that about 500 million naira had already been spent on the Textiles and Garment Park project which is located in Funtua, Katsina State.

According to him, the project which will be completed in the next 18 months will generate over ten thousand direct and indirect jobs in the state.

He explained that plans were also on ground to establish a Medical Economic Zone in the State.

The Managing Director who identified Special Economic Zones as vital to industrialization and economic development explained that arrangements had also been concluded to establish the Zones in about ten States of the Federation..

Prof Adesugba who said FEC had already approved two billion naira for the project advised other State Governments to key into the project to enhance national development.

Earlier, the Director General, Investment Promotion Agency, Katsina State, Alhaji Ibrahim Tukur commended NEPZA for establishment of the Textiles and Garment Park in the State.

Alhaji Tukur expressed the hope that the project would further boost economic activities in the State

In a remark, the representative of UNIDO, Doctor Osiji Otu said the Organization would provide necessary policy direction to Katsina State Government towards realizing objectives of the project.
