NEPZA Boss Tasks New Staff On Productivity

The Managing Director of the Nigeria Export Processing Authority,NEPZA, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba has advised new staff of the Authority to align with the Agency’s vision, mission and mandate for sustainable high productivity.

Prof Adesugba gave the advice in his address to flag-off a 4-day Induction programme organized for the new staff in Abuja.

He said the programme was aimed at ensuring proper indoctrination of the 270 persons employed by the Authority in July 2019.

The event which is billed to also take place in Lagos, Calabar and Kano would expose the new staff to the operations of the Free Trade Zone scheme in accordance with global standard.

Some of the deliverables to be considered include: Introduction to the rudiments of Free Zone Scheme’’,Major Trends in Free Zones Development’’, Rational for Free Trade Zone Development’’,Modeling Free Trade Zone with Business Opportunities’’, X-ray the Law Establishing Free Trade Zones In Nigeria’’, andInvestors Services and Investment Promotion’’.

Others include: ICT in the Free Trade Zone Ecosystem’’,Service Delivery Policy in Public Service’’, Communication Process’’ as well asProgramme and Project Cycle’’.

The NEPZA Chief Executive, therefore, said it was incumbent on the Authority to build the capacity of the new crop of staff for effective management of tasks, adding that the staff must, however be ready to learn, retain and display expertise in free zone matters.

He explained that the Authority would not be patient with any worker who displays indolence and tries to destroy the system instead of helping to build it.

This is a frontline agency that the government relies on for economic growth and industrialization, so for you to be relevant here you must seek to continually build your skills and knowledge on how to operate on this turf. You will be confronted with all manner of challenges with prospective investors, nurture and manage them in line with NEPZA Act. You will also have to contend with some sister’ agencies who may want to trespass the zones and so on.

Your responsibility, therefore, is to educate and sensitize them on the free zone concept.

“The knowledge you would obtain from this laudable training and induction would come handy someday very soon. We are committed to repositioning the Authority for effective performance and nothing less than this shall be tolerated’’, Adesugba stated
