The Nigerian Export Promotion Council, NEPC, is to train about ten million youths on Export Development Programmes.
The Executive Director of NEPC, Mr Olusegun Awolowo made this known in Abuja during a sensitization and training of Corps Members on Export Procedures and Documentation
Mr Awolowo said the move became necessary to grow the nation’s non oil sector towards diversifying the economy.
The Executive Director who was represented by the Director, National Export Office of NEPC, Mrs Getrude Ukoanam stated that the training would enable youths contribute their quota to national economic development.
According to him, the training is also part of NEPC’s strategies of mainstreaming Nigerian youths into the non-oil sector export value chain in consonance with the Youth Export Development Programme, YEXDEP.
He advised participants in the training to be committed and support the Council in its quest towards repositioning the nation’s economy through the non-oil sector
Mr Awolowo who described the country as blessed in the area of agriculture called for the support of all stakeholders in developing the non-oil industry for export.
Some of the Corps Members who spoke at the training commended NEPC for its empowerment programmes for youths in the area of export of Nigerian products.
They called for more Programmes that would enable the youth contribute meaningfully to economic development
