The Director General, National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Mohammed wants Transport Union Leaders and the motoring public to adhere strictly to safety measures for an accident free Christmas and New Year Celebrations in the Country.
Air Vice Marshal Mohammed who made the call in Abuja at the commencement of this year’s Operation Eagle Eye Campaign expressed concern over the increasing rate of road accidents that claimed lives of Nigerians on the highways.
Represented by Air Commodore Edward Adedokun a director in the agency, the Director General maintained that the agency would continue to collaborate with stakeholders towards ensuring zero accidents and an emergency_free road usage.
Air Vice Marshal Mohammed reiterated the Agency’s commitment to prompt response to emergencies and urged road users to always make use of available response platforms at all times.
The FRSC Deputy Corps Marshal Administration and Human Resources, Mrs Ewhrujakpor Ojeme said the Commission had established camps and rest areas along major highways to enable drivers rest while on a long journey.
Representatives of the NURTW, Nigeria Police, FCT Vehicle Inspection Office and other stakeholders in the Transport sector pledged to support every initiative towards an emergency free Yuletide.
