The Nigeria Defence Accademy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nigeria Metallurgical Development center Jos on training.
Speaking at the event, the Commandant of the Academy, Major General Jamil Sarham said the collaboration would promote scientific and Technical Development of the Country.
Major General Sarham noted that the MOU was important as the NDA has reached an advanced stage for establishment of a centre for Research in solid minerals.
Represented by the Deputy Commandant of the Academy, Air Vice Marshall Ibrahim Isa, Major General Sarham said the Academy offers many courses in different fields, hence the need to collaborate with various Institutions.
He noted that the development of the solid mineral sector of the Country would improve the socio economic development of the country with less dependence on petroleum.
Speaking earlier, the Director General of the National Metallurgical Center Jos, Professor Linus Asuquo described the signing of the MOU as a bold move that would enhance training of personnel of the Armed forces personnel in confrontating the numerous security challenges in the country.
Professor Asuquo called for more support for the center considering its strategic role in the development of the Nation’s mineral and human resources.
