The Nigerian Customs Area Comptroller in charge of Kano, Jigawa command , Sulieman Pai Umar says the command has generated Revenue of over twenty one billion Naira in the year under review, despite the covid 19 pandemic.
He said the generated revenue was over the target for the Command with over one billion Naira.
Area comptroller Suleiman Umar who assumed duty two weeks ago explained that it seized 390 bags of foreign rice, 20 jerricans of vegetable oil and second Hand smuggled clothes among other contraband items.
He said during the period under review, the Command made a total seizure of contraband items with Duty paid Value of over nine hundred and Twenty million Naira.
He commended the dedication of officers and men of the Command and pledged to continue to build a robust intelligence gathering strategy on border security aimed at ensuring a secured environment for legitimate trade.
Comptroller noted that the Command would redouble efforts in sensitizing people living in border areas about the dangers of engaging in smuggling activities.
He added that even though some borders were reopened only legitimate goods would be allowed into the Country.
