The Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, NCPC has called on the conference of States Pilgrims Welfare Boards to support efforts at checking abscondment during pilgrimages to redeem the image of Nigeria at the international level
The executive Secretary of NCPC, Reverend Yakubu Pam who made the call while addressing State Chairmen of Christian Pilgrim welfare boards in Abuja said the Federal Government would no longer tolerate abscondment and Acts of lawlessness by pilgrims in the holy land.
Reverend Pam stressed the need for proper screening of intending pilgrims so that only those yearning for spiritual upliftment were allowed for the exercise.
The NCPC Executive Secretary also appealed to wealthy individuals, corporate organizations and State Governments to assist Christians who lack the means but desire to visit the holy land once in their life time.
In a remark, the Chairman conference of the thirty six States Christian Pilgrims welfare boards, Reverend Isaiah Magaji said the meeting afforded them the opportunity to rub minds in preparation for this year’s pilgrimage.
