The National Task Force on illegal importation of Arms, Ammunition, Light Weapons and Chemicals, NATFORCE has expressed concern over proliferation of Illegal Arms threatening National Security and Socio Economic Activities in the country.
Commander, Special Squad NATFORCE, Mr Aliyu Aminu-Wayas who made this known while briefing newsmen in Abuja said the situation needed urgent attention.
While emphasizing the need for Nigerians to be Security conscious and provide necessary information to check the activities of insugents, kidnappers and other Security threats, the Commander also urged the Federal Government and the National Assembly to expedite action on the NATFORCE Bill.
According to him, if the NATFORCE Bill which has passed second reading in the Senate is assented to, the organisation will have legai backing to carry out its operations effectively.
Mr Aminu-Wayas commended President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing the new acting Inspector General of Police and promised to work with him to make the country unsafe for criminal elements.
The NATFORCE Commander urged members of the organisation nationwide to remain resolute and complement efforts of security agencies and the Federal Government at ensuing peace and unity in the country.
