The National Task Force on Importation of Illegal Arms, Ammunition, Light Weapons and Chemicals, NATFORCE wants the public to beware of some individuals who use the name of the organization for extortion and other illegal activities.

The National Commander Special Squad of NATFORCE Mr Aliyu Aminu-Wayas made the call while briefing newsmen in Abuja.

Mr Aminu-Wayas explained that some individuals had been extorting money from unsuspecting Nigerians with the disguise of recruiting them into the force which he said the bill is still before the National Assembly.

He maintained that the Taskforce which is led by the Director General, Alhaji Musa Mohammed Katsina would not want the force to be discredited by some criminals.

The Commander who said the force apprehended some criminals within the city centre appealed to the acting Inspector General of Police to grant approval for a signal that would enable its personnel respond to distress during robbery attacks.

Mr Aminu-Wayas also advised politicians against using youths as political thugs but to empower them to be useful to the society.

The Commander Special Taskforce promised to continue to work with various security agencies to sanitize the country of all forms of criminality.
