NASUEAI Threatens To Embark On Strike

The Non Accademic Staff Union of Educational and Associate Institutions has threatened to embark on an Industrial action if Government refused to honour the agreement it entered into with the Union.

Generay Secretary of the Union, Comrade Adeniyi Adeyemi made this known during the Universities Centre Trade Group Council meeting held at the University of Jos.

Comrade Adeyemi said they had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Government in February with the timeline of each agreement expiring in April but Expressed regret that about 95 percent of the agreement had not been met.

Some of the demands include the minimum wage, deduction of dues, funding and the state of universities in the country among others.

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau state, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Professor Danladi Atu appealed to the Union to dialogue with Government whenever there are disputes.

Vice Chancellor University of Jos, Professor Sebastian Maimako represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Accademic Professor Tanko Ishaya said the Union had remained a critical pillar in the administration and contributed to the transformation of the Institution.

Chairman of the Union University ofJos Branch Comrade Bitrus Dagwer said the Union under his watch has been proactive especially towards staff welfare.

Highlight of the event was presentation of awards to some dignitaries.
