NASSARAWA : Wife Of Slain APC Chairman Wants Govt To Be More Proactive In Tackling Insecurity

Wife of Nasarawa State slain Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC Mrs Grace Philip has called on the Federal and State Governments to take decisive measures to arrest and prosecute perpetrators of crimes as part of steps towards checking insecurity in the country.

Mrs Grace Philip made the call in Yelwa, Toto Local Government Area of the state during a turbaning ceremony of some sons and daughters of the area including the late APC Chairman, Mr Philip Shekwo who was killed by unknown gunmen in his house last year.

According to Mrs Shekwo, the political class had a major role to play in ensuring that people who are bent on carrying out attacks on innocent citizens were fished out to face the consequences of their actions.

She maintained that the only Justice that could be done to her late husband, Mr Philip Shekwo was to ensure that his killers were arrested and prosecuted.

Speaking on the Role of Traditional Rulers as Agents of Peace, a retired Permanent Secretary in the state Mr. Yairus Dagusa stressed the need for traditional rulers to be given specific roles in tackling insecurity.

Mr Dagusa stated that traditional institutions are the closest to the people at the grassroots and their involvement in decision making especially in maintenance of law and order would contribute in securing lives and property .
