Nassarawa Govt Wants Doctors To Rescind Decision To Embark On Strike

Nasarawa State Government has appealed to Resident doctors in the State to rescind their decision to embark on strike for the common good of humanity.

Chief Medical Director, Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia Doctor Ikrama Hassan made the appeal during a media briefing in Lafia.

Doctor Hassan called on the doctors to consider lives of the people they took an oath to protect first before any other interest considering the difficult times the health sector is facing globally occasioned by the Covid 19 pandemic.

He stated that embarking on strike would amount to adding more pressure on the system as according to him, the State Government was making efforts towards addressing their demands.

Nasarawa State Chapter of Association of Resident Doctors had in a Communiqué, directed its members to proceed on a three day warning strike on Monday the eighth of February 2021

According to the Communiqué, the doctors will go on an indefinite strike if the government fails to address their demands which include immediate reversal of suspension of Residency Training for its members in Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital Lafia, provision of standard Covid 19 Personal Protective Equipment among others.
