Nassarawa Govt To Evolve Measures To Curb Insecurity, Covid 19

Nasarawa State Government has summoned an emergency joint meeting to deliberate on the second wave of COVID 19 and the security situation in the State.

In an opening remark in Government House Lafia, Acting Governor of the State, Dr Emmanuel Akabe said the meeting was to take far reaching measures to mitigate the spread of COVID 19 in the State considering the Yuletide season.

Dr. Emmanuel Akabe stated that as at 22 December 2020, 15 persons have lost their lives to Covid 19 including the immediate past provost of the State College of Education, Akwanga, Dr. Rebeccah Isaac, with 30 confirmed cases recorded within 24 hours in the State.

The Acting Governor who expressed worry over the rise in the spread of COVID 19 in the State within a short time, called on residents to be cautious and observe all safety protocols.

He stressed the need for a robust security strategy to avert any breach of peace during and after the Christmas and the new year celebrations.

Heads of Security Agencies , Traditional Rulers , Religious Leaders and members of the State Task Force on Covid 19 were in the meeting.
