Nasarawa State Government has commenced implementation of the State Harmonisation and Administration of Revenue Law 2020 as part of measures to check financial leakages.
At the opening of a two day summit for stakeholders from revenue generating agencies in Lafia, Governor Abdullahi Sule said the State Government would take punitive measures against violators of the law.
Governor Sule stated that henceforth collection of taxes and revenues acruable to the state would be harmonised and centralised in the State Revenue Service.
He explained that the Summit would focus on awareness to ensure that Ministries , Departments, Agencies, Local Government Councils and other revenue collecting agencies arwere abreast with their roles as contained in the law.
Executive Chairman of Nasarawa State Internal Revenue Service, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammed said the monthly Internally Generated Revenue of the State had increased to over one hundred percent despite the Covid 19 pandemic.
The summit is tagged “Tax and Revenue summit for Revenue Generating Ministries , Departments and Agencies, Local Government Councils on the Implementation of the Nasarawa State Harmonisation and Administration of Revenue Law.”
