Association of Local Governments of Nigeria ALGON, Nasarawa State has empowered 380 persons in the State .
At the distribution of the items in Lafia, Governor Abdullahi Sule said the State Government would continue to work towards job creation through skills acquisition as part of measures to tackle poverty and hunger.
The Governor, represented by the State Commissioner for Local Governments, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs Mr Yusuf Turaki stated that the fight against crimes could only be achieved if collective efforts were made to engage youths in worthwhile ventures.
Nasarawa State Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigerian, ALGON, Alhaji Mu’ azu Maifata said the items were procured in collaboration with a Non Governmental Organization, Oma Life Rescue Foundation.
He stated that target beneficiaries of the items were People with Disabilities, women, the aged and youths who do not have any means of livelihood.
Three hundred and eighty items including sewing and knitting machines, vulcanizing machines, grinding engines, power generating sets and motorcycles were distributed at the event
