The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS has condemned the mandatory letter of undertaking to be signed by parents and guardians of students of Kaduna State University.

This is contained in a statement by the President of NANS, Asefon Sunday in Abuja.

The Association notes that the mandatory letter of undertaking would jeopardise the rights of parents and guardians of these students and their freedom of expression of any anti student policies that may be imposed by the University Management and State Government.

It also describes the development as a war against human rights as enshrined in the constitution as the letter of undertaking takes away their rights and makes all policies binding on them.

The statement which urges the Vice Chancellor of the University to put aside the draconian policy called on the State Government to ensure that the rights of its citizens are protected at all times.

It also admonishes all students to remain calm and law abiding adding that the Association will do all within its powers to defend Nigeria’s democracy.
