The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria,NAHCON and JAIZ Bank have Signed a Memorandum Of Understanding to Kick start the Hajj Saving Scheme.
The event which was strictly with adherence to COVID-19 protocols was held at the Hajj House, Abuja.
The Chairman, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan in his opening address said the Scheme is a platform enshrined in the NAHCON Establishment Act 2006, as a contributory payment for prospective Muslims wishing to undertake the Pilgrimage to Makkah
The Chairman lauded past Leaders of NAHCON under the leadership of Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello and Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammad Mukhtar who steadfastly made very significant progress to implement the Hajj Savings Scheme through several studies visit to Countries like Malaysia and Indonesia towards making it a reality.
Alhaji Zikrullah who maintained that the decade old proposed Scheme which has been in the pipeline even before the establishment of the Commission, said the MOU would fast-track implementation of the Scheme.
The Managing Director of the Bank, Hassan Usman who applauded the hardwork and Commitment of both current and past Boards to actualize the Scheme said it is Committed in helping to run the Scheme because it was set up to meet the yearnings of the Ummah in particular and Nigeria in general.” In attendance were representatives of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Permanent Secretary General Services in the office of the SGF, Barrister Olusegun Adeyemi Adekunle, FCT Minister, Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello was also represented by immediate past Director of FCT Muslim Pilgrims Board, Alhaji Bashir Muhammad amongst others.
