NAB Seeks Better Living Conditions

The National Association of the Blind, NAB has called on Government to create more job opportunities for Persons with Disabilities to enable them contribute their quota to national development.
The Chairman, FCT Chapter of the Association, Mr Obinna Ekujereonye who made the call at a news briefing in Abuja expressed regret that many persons with disabilities struggle to gain employment after graduation.
Mr Ekujereonye also stressed that many Organisations in the Country do not adhere to the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities Prohibition Act which stipulates that five percent employment in private and Government institutions should be reserved for persons with disabilities.
Mr Ekujereonye expressed optimism that adequate job opportunities for persons with disabilities would fast track the growth of the nation’s economy.
The FCT Chairman of the Association of the Blind further commended President Muhammadu Buhari for establishing the National Disability Commission to check all forms of discrimination against persons with disabilities in the Country.
