The Vicar, Saint Matthews Anglican Church Maitama Abuja, Venerable Ephraim Akanya has called on the Federal Government to urgently address the spate of kidnappings, Human Trafficking and other challenges in which Women are at the receiving end.
Addressing the congregation during this year’s mothers Sunday, Venerable Akanya said the present situation was hindering women from contributing to socio economic development of the country.
Venerable Akanya who also identified lack of good parenting as one of the causes of insecurity and other vices in the country called on women not to leave their responsibilities to house helps and strive to make their homes peaceful.
The Anglican Priest however stressed the need for parents to also inculcate moral values and the fear of God in their children from childhood for a peaceful society.
In a sermon, the Guest Speaker, Ms Amal Pepple while appealing to mothers not to allow the economic situation in the country affect proper upbringing of their children emphasized the need for security agencies to ensure the safety of lives amidst challenges threatening national peace.
The President of the mothers union in the church Mrs Rose Akanya urged mothers to be role models and be supportive to their husbands.
The congregation offered special prayers for Divine intervention in homes that are facing challenges.
