The House of Representatives Committee on Aviation has directed the Ministry of Aviation and its agencies to submit details of their proposal to be incorporated into the 2021 budget.
The Chairman of the Committee, Nnolim Nnaji, stated this at the National Assembly, when the Ministry and its Agencies appeared before the Committee for their budget defence.
The lawmaker noted that due to the impact of COVID-19 on the Aviation sector, the Ministry needed to submit proposals that would adequately address challenges in the sector.
The Chairman who called for full cooperation from the ministry, stated that a realistic budget would help the industry to recover quickly in 2021, adding that all the relevant documents should be made available for scrutiny.
In his submission on the status of the 2020 budget and estimates of the 2021 budget, the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, said implementation of the 2020 budget started well, but was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He added that the proposed capital budget of N78.9billion for next year encompasses the Aviation road map approved by President Muhammadu Buhari which also seeks to establish a national carrier for Nigeria.
