Minister of finance identifies role of civil servants in good governance.

The minister of Finance, Budget And National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed has described the Federal Civil Service as vital to the development, institutionalization and effective implementation of policies and programmes of government.

The minister stated this at a three day capacity building for Special Advisors and Technical Assistants of Ministers in collaboration with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Foundation in A via visual hype on the new National Long Term Development Plan.

Mrs Ahmed called on the participants to take full advantage of the capacity building programme to develop new strategies and strengthen existing collaborations across their respective Ministries.
According to the minister this would further strengthen their work and better position them to drive the implementation of integrated policies and plans.

In a goodwill message, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Nigeria, Mrs. Birgitt Ory, said Institutions should be effective, reliable and transparent, for political accountability and economic development.
He noted that If institutions were strong and reliable, businessmen would be more likely to invest and if there was one thing private sector investors disliked it was Uncertainty about investment conditions.
He also opined that strong and reliable institutions contribute to a conducive business environment.

In a remark, the Resident Representative of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Foundation Dr. Vladimir Kreck, said the foundation together with the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning had left no stone unturned for weeks to invite participants to obtain skills, knowledge and attitutdes to improve the work of government.
He stressed that Ministerial aides were the backbone of every major development in every goverment institution around the world.
