Mining Association Of Nig Decries Over Dependence On Oil

The Federal Government has been urged to accord priority to the provision of More infrastructure and Manpower to the Ajaokuta Steel Company in Kogi state.

One of the Guests On Perspectives, a Kapital FM current affairs programme who is the Technical adviser to the Parmanent Secretary Ministry of Mines and Steel Development Mr Deinsam Dan Ogan made the call while featuring on the programme.

Mr Dan said Provision of Infrastructure would not only revive the company but enable stakeholders to harness the country’s Mineral resources and boost the economy.

The Technical adviser therefore advised artisanal Miners to access loans in the Bank of Industry with very low interest rates for rapid growth of the sector.

Mr Dan also urged Artisanal Miners to be innovative in improving their mining activities across the country.

Also speaking on the programme, the special adviser to the president of the Mining Association of Nigeria, Mallam Auwal Bununu Stressed the need for Public- Private interface between the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development and other relevant Organizations to formulate policies favourable to indigenous miners.

Mallam Auwal who expressed worry over the Country’s over dependence on crude oil stressed the need to explore other areas to revamp the economy and create jobs.

He also appealed to the Federal Government to provide necessary support to artisanal Miners and other stakeholders for rapid growth of the sector.

A Caller on the programe from Maitama Abuja, Mr Emmanuel Esi advocated more empowerment programmes for indigenous industries and Miners to enhance the economic diversification agenda of the Federal Government.
