Mines & Steel Sector To Synergize With Relevant Agencies For Sustainable Devt

The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Olamilekan Adegbite, has called for synergy between the Ministry and other agencies to sanitize and grow the Mines and steel sector for sustainable development.

Adegbite made the call at a sensitization workshop, organized by the Ministry for Officers of the Anti- Corruption Agencies and Selected Security Establishments on the functioning of the Ministry and its Agencies, to promote understanding and cordial working relations in Abuja.

He explained that as agencies of the Federal Government, they are bound by a common objective of achieving good governance through the promotion of security, favourable work environment, prosperity and welfare of Nigerians.

Adegbite who stressed that the partnership would promote and attract investment added that agencies of government cannot afford to work on opposite ends.

The minister noted that as the Ministry strives to deliver on its mandate, it behoves all sister agencies, whose responsibilities are interwoven with the Ministry to play their role in ensuring that the enabling environment required for the Sector to thrive is created and safeguarded,

In his remarks, the Minister of State Mines and Steel Development Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, said the workshop would afford critical stakeholders in the Sector the opportunity of strategic engagement to forge mutual understanding and harmonious working relations for development of the sector.

According to him, the synergy would assist the Ministry in harnessing the enormous potential in the mining sector for employment generation and wealth creation that will expand the revenue base of the nation’s economy.

Earlier the Permanent Secretary, Dr (Mrs) Oluwatoyin Akinlade, explained that the aim of the workshop was to build mutual understanding between the Ministry and Agencies for the collective success in harnessing the potential in the Mining Sector.

She therefore solicited for greater solidarity and support, adding that the Ministry is willing to work with the agencies on ideas and programmes that are in consonance with its vision and mandate.

Participants at the workshop include Director Generals of various agencies under the ministry of Mines and steel Development and some security agencies.
