Three thousand women in Micro, Small and medium enterprises across the 6 geo political zones of the Country are to be empowered.
The Minister of Women affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen stated this at a capacity building workshop for women entrepreneurs in micro, small and medium enterprises in Plateau State.
The Minister said the workshop was one of the strategic interventions of the ministry to ameliorate the adverse effects of COVID 19 pandemic on businesses owned by Women across the Country.
She noted that Nigerian Women entrepreneurs are major contributors to economic growth and account for about 90% of Micro, Small and medium enterprises.
The Minister said most Nigerian women are not only supporting pillars, but also bread winners who engage in various businesses to provide for their families.
Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, represented by the Deputy Governor, Professor Soni Tyoden lauded the contributions of women to the development of the country.
Gov Lalong expressed the hope that the training would not only add value to their homes and families but to the Nation at large.
In an address of welcome, wife of Plateau State Governor, Mrs Regina Lalong represented by the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Rebecca Sambo called on the women to use the opportunity to build their businesses, thereby eradicating poverty in the Country.
Highlight of the event was distribution of relief materials donated by the Minister to the women
