Military High Command Evolves Strategies To Forestall Criminal Activities

The Military High Command says it has intensified surveillance and strategies in all theatres of Operations to forestall criminal activities across the country.

The Acting Director Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, Brigadier General Bernard Onyeuko stated this during a media briefing in Abuja.

General Onyeuko explained that due to the intensified efforts at various theatres of Operations, there was reduction in the spate of criminal activities across the country.

According to him, troops of Operations Hadarin Daji, Hadin Kai, Safe Haven, Whirl Stroke, Thunder Strike and Whirl Punch in the North West, North East and North Central, carried out several Kinetic and non kinetic Operations that led to the elimination of scores of bandits and terrorists as well as the recovery of arms and ammunition in Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, Kaduna, Plateau and Taraba states.

He noted that some family members of Boko Haram and Islamic States of West Africa Province,ISWAP terrorists also surrendered to troops as some fleeing members were engaged and killed.

The Acting Director pointed out that troops raided some drug peddlers and cultists hideouts in Plateau state and the criminals were arrested alongside the drugs and some arms and ammunition.

He also hinted that troops engaged in peace and security meetings with Community heads, youth leaders and other stakeholders on lasting peace in Plateau.

General Onyeuko also added that troops of Operations Delta Safe and Awatse executed several Operations against economic saboteurs and other criminals, deactivated some illegal refining sites and storage tanks and recovered some petroleum products.

The Acting Director solicited timely information and support from the public to enable troops achieve more.
