The Kogi State Government has revoked all lands currently being used as motor parks within Lokoja metropolis.
This is part of efforts to relocate all commercial motor parks to the new Mega Terminal in Lokoja, the Kogi State Capital.
Speaking with Newsmen during a news briefing at the Government House, Lokoja, Special Adviser on Security to Kogi State Governor, retired Commander Jerry Duro Omodara stated that Governor Bello directed that all motor parks within the State capital be closed.
According to him, operators of the parks particularly inter state vehicles had been served notices to relocate to the Mega Terminal in Felele.
Retired Commander Omodara emphasized the need for commercial transporters, passengers as well as traders to comply as security personnel were set to commence enforcement of the order today.
The Special Adviser on Security to Governor Bello commended the various transport unions for their support so far stressing that collaboration of all stakeholders was key.
Also speaking, Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Kingsley Fanwo pointed out that the move to relocate the mini parks within Lokoja was part of measures to tackle insecurity and ensure safety of citizens by Government.
According to Fanwo, adequate sensitization of the public and commuters had been carried out on the need to support the new policy.
He added that government officials were also cautioned against abuse and circumventing the directive of the State Governor.
