Media workers have been advised to imbibe the culture of savings ahead of retirement.
A retired Director, Sports and Outside Broadcast of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr Mohammed Bawa made the call at a forum organised by a welfare group of Power FM Bida.
Addressing a gathering of members, Dr. Mohammed Bawa explained that saving for retirement must be prioritized by all workers.
Dr Bawa who retired from services of the Coprporation, four months ago, urged welfare groups to come up with various forms of investments that would be beneficial to members.
The General Manager, Radio Nigeria Power FM Bida, Alhaji Mohammed Gbedus Abdullahi said the station would continue to provide the platform for staff to grow.
Alhaji Gbedus Abdullahi maintained that while welfare organizations were needed, members must always exhibit self and professional discipline.
For the coordinator of the group, Mr Nehemiah Wondi, the Association had been able to foster unity among members.
He pointed out that the programme being championed by the group had been able to bring growth to the society in line with the vision of the FRCN.
Highlights of the event include the admission of new members to the group and presentation of a gift to Sode Mohammed for his outstanding performance as anchor of the NUPE weekly programme,Kichi danbo Yina’o.
The group known as Like minds was set up some years ago to cater for the need of members and contribute to the growth of the station.
