Lawmakers Express Worry Over Delay To Reopen Int’l Wing Of Aminu Kano Airport

Lawmakers from Kano and Jigawa States at the National Assembly under the leadership of the House leader, Alhaji Alhassan Ado Doguwa have expressed concern over the delay in reopening of the international wing of the Aminu Kano international Airport. Kano

Alhaji Alhhasan Ado Doguwa stated this when he led the Lawmakers at an inspection visit to the international wing of the Airport.

The House leader said there was need for quick reopening of the international wing due to the economic Activities in Kano state.

“We are disturbed why the international wing of Aminu Kano international Airport was not reopened while the Murtala Mohammad Airport in Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikwe international Abuja were back in operations.”

“The Minister had explained so many technical reasons as the major problems that hinders the reopening of the Aminu international wing, but we are comfortable with the explanations of the Minister and we are convinced that the federal government was committed to the reopening of the wing soon”

The House leader added that the lawmakers would do everything possible in synergizing with agencies of government in ensuring that adequate funding were provided to agencies like aviation to achieve the set objectives.

Earlier the Managing Director of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, Captain Rabiu Yadudu said the second wave of the covid 19 pandemic was the major reason that halted reopening of the international wing of the Airport.

He added that plans were underway to reopen the international wing in line with covid 19 protocols.

In a remark the President, Kano Chambers of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture Alhaji Dalhatu Abubakar Commended the lawmakers for their concern on the Kano business Community.
