Over three thousand vulnerable people and youths from Nasarawa North in Nasarawa State have benefitted from an empowerment program by the law maker representing the area in the National Assembly.
At the event in Akwanga, Nassarawa Eggon and Wamba Local Government areas, the Senator representing the Zone, Godiya Akwashiki said the gesture was in furtherance of his constituency programmes aimed at enhancing the living standard of the people.
Senator Godiya Akwashiki said he had mapped out series of projects targeted towards offering short and long-term succour to the people considering the prevailing economic hardship.
He stated that he would continue to pay maximum attention to women and youth empowerment as well as rural development in fulfilment of his campaign promises.
The items distributed include 771 welding machines, 885 sewing and grinding machines, 176 motorcycles as well as ten thousand Naira each to over two thousand persons with disabilities and the aged.
Some of the beneficiaries, Mallam Ibrahim Ado and Mrs Patricia Shammah described the gesture by the law maker as a step towards enabling them to earn a living.
