Kwara State cancels congregational Eid prayers.

This year’s congregational Eid prayers for the Eid el- kabir celebration in Kwara state has been cancelled.

The Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Technical Committee on COVID-19 Mr. Kayode Alabi, announced this at a media briefing in Ilorin.

He said the decision was taken in the interest of all residents of the state to curtail the spread of Covid 19.

He noted that though the Friday Jumat prayers had been restored strict compliance with the rules of physical distancing and the use of face mask must be observed.

The Deputy governor said that all recreational centres which includes the Kwara Mall (ShopRite), Amusement Parks , all shops and markets as well as the Unilorin Zoological Garden are to be shut on the Eid Day and the day after .

The media briefing was attended by religious leaders, representative of the Emir of Ilorin and the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, among others.
