Kogi State to recruit 21,000 youths under Special Public Works Programme

Kogi State Government has inaugurated a twenty member selection committee towards the recruitment of twenty one thousand youths across the State under the Federal Government’s Special Public Works program.

Inaugurating the Committee in Government House, Lokoja, Governor Yahaya Bello represented by his Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja said members of the Committee were carefully selected based on their professional competence to deliver on the task given.

Governor Bello admonished members of the Committee to discharge the assignment with utmost sense of responsibility and fairness.

According to him, the Special Public Works program would revitalize the nation’s maintenance culture of public infrastructure among other things by those to be engaged.

While commending President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of Labour and Productivity for the initiative, he said the three months engagement of the youths would add value to thier lives.

In a remark, the Chairman of the committee, Mr Joseph Afolabi said the program is aimed at cushioning the effects of COVID-Nineteen on the citizens by government.

Mr Afolabi said the people to be recruited were both skilled and unskilled youths at the grassroots with or without formal education and currently not employed.

He promised that the committee would do a thorough job for the selection of twenty one thousand youths in Kogi State.

Members of the Committee cuts across traditional and religious institutions, Academia, youth groups, market women and National Union of Road Transport Workers among others.
