Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello says the challenge of medical tourism will be reduced when the State Reference Hospital Okene takes off.
The Governor who stated this after inspecting the ongoing project in Okene further stressed that about 4.7b naira would be expended on the project.
Governor Bello expressed optimism that when completed, the reference hospital would change the narrative in provision of advanced medical services in the state.
He pointed out that apart from job creation, the health facility would check medical tourism by citizens of the State and the country in search of quality medical attention.
“This has a capacity of taking care of every ailment you can ever think of. It’s going to be the best in Nigeria and Africa”. He said.
The Governor who also inspected some ongoing road projects in the area including Ohu Bariki and Ozu wire road expressed satisfaction with the level and quality of work.
Kogi State Commissioner for Works and Housing, Abubakar Sadiqu Ohere who conducted the Governor round the projects noted that work on the reference hospital had reached advanced stage.
On his part, the contractor handling the Hospital project, Peter Dabu stressed that the project would be delivered by August this year.
