Nigerian women have been charged to continue to contribute their quota to the development of the nation.
Kogi State Head of Civil Service, Mrs Hannah Odiyo made the call at the celebration of the international women’s day organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress Women Committee in Lokoja.
Mrs Odiyo said the contributions by women to the society cannot be overemphasized and urged them to sustain the tempo.
She noted that women in leadership positions had proved thier worth hence the need for leaders at all levels to give them more opportunities.
The State HOS called for partnership with the NLC Women Committee and her office towards achieving set goals.
In her address, the State Chairperson, NLC Women Committee, Hajia Habibat Umar-Ibrahim said the programme was organised to celebrate the role of women in nation building with focus on thier challenges in a male dominated world.
Hajia Habibat advised the womenfolk to remain resilient in the face of challenges encountered at thier workplaces and the society at large.
In a message to the occasion, State NLC Chairman, Onuh Edoka promised continued support of the Union to the body.
In a lecture, entitled; Women in leadership, towards achieving equal opportunities for all in a COVID- Nineteen world, the guest speaker, Pastor Roseline Alabi urged women to be prepared to take on more responsibilities in future roles through training and mentorship in a non discriminatory bases in all sectors of life.
The State Commissioner of Women Affairs, Hajia Fatima Buba in a message also urged women to be agent of change in the society.
