Kogi Govt Task Higher Institutions On Research

In line with Government’s effort to promote and encourage in local production of goods, the Federal College of Education, FCE, Okene through its Chemistry Department has produced some chemical products ready for the Nigerian market.

The Registrar of the college, Mr Ovansa Peter stated this while presenting some hand sanitizers to the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo in Lokoja.

The Registrar explained that the chemical products include fumigants, hand sanitizers, anti snake venom, liquid soap and herbicides.

He explained that they were in the ministry for endorsement of the products as the hand sanitizers were produced due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Head of Chemistry Department in the college, Hajia Fatima Musa, said the products were produced to meet world standard as they had been certified by the National Food and Drug Administration and Control,NAFDAC.

In a remark, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, who expressed delight with the initiative said there was need for institutions in the country to venture into research and local production of products in all sectors of the economy

While urging other higher institutions to emulate FCE Okene for their creativity the Commissioner said the State Government would collaborate with the college for mass production of the products.
