Kogi State Government has directed the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, to commence distribution of palliatives to those affected by flood in the State.
Governor Yahaya Bello stated this in Lokoja while receiving officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, who are in the State on an advocacy visit.
Represented by his Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja, Alhaji Bello said the palliatives would mitigate effects of the flood on those affected as sensitization continues on the need for those living near banks of the river to relocate.
He urged all public spirited individuals and Corporate bodies to support Government’s effort at mitigating the effect of the flood on those affected.
Earlier, the Director General of NEMA, Rtd Air Vice Marshall Muhammadu Alhaji Muhammed said the organization was in the State for an advocacy visit and called on the people to adhere to warnings by relevant Agencies to avert flooding.
