Kogi Govt Directs Transporters To Move Operations To Mega Terminal

Kogi State Government has directed all transporters in the State capital to move thier operations to the Mega Terminal.

The State Security Adviser, Retired Commander Jerry Omodara stated this while taking the participants of the National Institute for Security Studies, Abuja round the Terminal in Lokoja.

Retired Commander Omodara said the directive was to bring sanity to the operation of motor parks within the State capital as well as secure passengers and thier goods.

According to him, a Task Force had been constituted and a Mobile Court stationed to try erring transporters and put an end to extortion by touts along highways in the State capital.

The Security Adviser said the government was also working with relevant security agencies to check illicit drug consumption by drivers and other acts inimical to the safety of lives and property.

Speaking, the Deputy Commandant, National Institute for Security Studies, Abuja, Mr. Didacus Egbeji said the participants deemed it fit to conclude thier State tour by visiting the Mega Terminal as part of the requirements for the award of certificate for the participants.

Other places visited in the course of the one-week tour include: Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited, Dangote Cement Company Obajana, Okene and Idah Local Government Secretariats as well as the Ohinoyi of Ebira land, Alhaji Ado Ibrahim.

Highlight of the tour was a gala night organised by the State Government in honour of the participants.
