KOGI: Governor Bello Charges Youths To Be Politically Active.

Youths have been advised to participate actively in the political process so as to be able to influence decisions that affect the younger generation.

The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello gave the advice during the Swearing in of Chairmen of 21 Local Councils at the township stadium, Lokoja, Kogi State.

The Governor urged the youths to resist been used as instruments of violence and register themselves in political parties to be involved in the process.

He said paucity of funds had delayed early conduct of the local elections and
subsequently charged the Council Executives to abide by the pledge they have taken.

Alhaji Bello further enjoined the local Council officials to ensure safety of lives and property of citizens, entrench unity as well as tackle criminality in the local government areas.

Secretary to Kogi State Government, Mrs Folashade Ayoade stressed that the administration had given women a fair opportunity at governance.

For the Kogi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Salami Ozigi, governance would be brought closer to the grassroot with the inauguration of the Council Executives.

The Commissioner urged the Council Chairmen to key into the peace and security initiatives of Governor Bello.

All the 21 Council Chairmen elected under the All Progressives Congress, APC have women as their Vice with over a 100 other women coming in as councillors.
