Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has
signed into law the 2021 Appropriation Bill of 130 billion naira for the next fiscal year.
The bill has a total of seventy four billion naira as recurrent expenditure and fifty six billion naira as capital expenditure.
Assenting to the budget at the banquet hall, Government House, Lokoja, Governor Bello stated that his administration had been keen on positive budget performance and appreciated the Assembly members for ensuring that the bill reflected the needs of people of the State.
Earlier, Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Matthew Kolawole explained that the 2021 budget received speedy consideration and passage considering the overall performance of the previous budget.
The 2021 budget for Kogi State has over twenty one billion naira allocated to the Education sector, Security has about twelve billion naira, Health has over seventeen billion naira, infrastructure, over twenty one billion naira, Human Capital Development, twenty one billion naira while Agriculture will get over eight billion naira all geared towards the Economic Recovery of the State.
The Governor also used the occasion to call on policy makers in the Country and other persons in position of authority to find indigenous ways of tackling the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and not continue to be at the mercy of foreign countries.
