Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole has described the erosion menace in some parts of the State as worrisome and a recurring motion on the floor of the House.
To this end he directed the House Standing Committee on Land to visit the sites in Yagba East and Yagba West Local Government Areas to ascertain the level of devastation.
The directive followed a motion appealing to the State Government to tackle the erosion confronting some communities in Yagba East Local Government Area sponsored by Musa Jimoh, member representing Yagba East Constituency.
He described the erosion as threatening as it deprived the people from carrying out their normal activities.
He explained that a hospital, houses and roads have been destroyed by the erosion.
Seconding the motion, the member representing Yagba West Constituency, Aderonke Aro said some communities in his constituency were equally affected by the erosion as farmers could no longer bring their farm produce to the market.
The speaker therefore madated the committee to report back to the house very soon for it to make proper and comprehensive recommendations to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.
