The Kano State Government says it has received 153 indigenes from the State repatriated from Saudi Arabia.
The Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Zahra’u Muhammad Umar made this known while recieving the returnees on behalf of the State Government.
Dr. Zahra’u explained that, the State Government was committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property of its Indigenes.
She pointed out that, out of the 1,319 people repatriated, 153 were from Kano and would be reunited with their families after screening.
She also said plans were underway to engage them in small businesses to be self reliant.
Earlier in his remarks, the Director General of the Kano Investment Promotion Agency and Diaspora, Alhaji Hamidu Sidi Ali, said all the returnees had undergone two weeks isolation as specified by NCDC.
He said all of them tested negative to corona virus before moving to their respective States.
Alhaji Sidi Ali expressed satisfaction with the Federal Government and Foreign Affairs Ministry for ensuring the safe return of the returnees
Some of those repatriated who spoke to Radio Nigeria expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Government for reunitiy them with their families.
