The Nigeria Bar Association NBA, has urged the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria , JUSUN, to suspend its nationwide strike which commenced today.
This is contained in a statement by President of NBA, Olumide Akpata in Abuja.
It says as laudable as the proposed strike might be, it is concerned about the timing and the consequences on the administration of justice in the country, particularly on the heels of prolonged lull in judicial activities owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The statement stresses that as courts were trying to catch up for lost time, it will be catastrophic to shut down again.
However, a visit to the Federal High Court Abuja, by Judiciary Correspondent Victoria Abah, shows that JUSUN did not backdown as Union officials were at the gate to enforce compliance with the industrial action.
