Lawmakers of the People’s Democratic Party in the National Assembly have called on the Federal Government to consider creation of State Police to tackle cases of insecurity in the country.
Senate Minority leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe made the call on behalf of the PDP Caucus at a news briefing in Abuja.
Senator Abaribe emphasized the need for urgent steps to stem the tide of the increasing rate of insecurity in the country.
He also stressed the need for constitutional reforms that would be of benefit to the citizenry.
According to him the Caucus is also concerned about the inability of government to curb insecurity.
The Senate minority caucus insisted on the need for government to live up to its campaign promises of solving the problems of poverty and insecurity.
Senator Abaribe advocated more economic policies in accordance with international best practices to solve the problems of inflation and poverty in the country.
