Emir of Lafia and Chairman Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, Rtd Justice Sidi Bage has stressed the need for stronger collaboration between religious leaders and the traditional institution as part of efforts to find lasting solution to the security challenges facing the country.
Justice Sidi Bage gave this indication while playing host to the new Catholic Bishop of Lafia Diocese, Monsignor David Ajang in his palace in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital.
According to the Emir, religious leaders have critical roles to play in ensuring peaceful coexistence hence the need to continue to work closely with traditional rulers to enhance tolerance between their followers and other faiths.
The new Catholic Bishop of Lafia Diocese Monsignor David Ajang in an interview with Radio Nigeria commended the Lafia Emirate for maintenance of peace and unity among the diverse groups in the state which had lasted for decades.
He stated that he would initiate enlightenment programmes for the family as a unit in the society to be engaged in peace building to pave way for development.
Earlier, the outgoing Catholic Bishop of Lafia Diocese, Right Reverend Ishaya Audu said the visit to the Emir’s palace was to introduce the new Bishop to the the royal father .
