INSECURITY : FG Urged To Prioritize Welfare Of NPF

The Federal government has been urged to pay the desired attention to the welfare of the Police to boost their morale for optimal performance.

Former FCT Commissioner of Police, Lawrence Alobi gave the advice while featuring on “Perspectives” a Kapital FM Current Affairs Programme in Abuja.

Mr. Alobi said if the welfare of the Police can be improved the issue of corruption among the police would be a thing of the past.

He maintained that improving the working conditions of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force would go a long way in improving operational capacity of the Force.

The former FCT Commissioner stressed the need for the police to put in more efforts to regain the confidence of the citizenry.

He emphasized the need for community policing and the creation of state police towards improving national security which can be archived through partnership with local communities.

Another guest on the programme, a public affairs Analyst, Mr. Emmanuel Gabriel said all hands must be on deck to support the new acting inspector General of Police, Mr. Usman Baba in combating crime across the country.

Mr Gabriel therefore appealed to the new inspector General of police to fulfill his promise of using the available human resources in the police force in addressing the security challenges confronting the nation.

The guests also called on the new Acting IGP to ensure that under his leadership, the Nigeria police lives up to expectations thereby discharging their duties in a professional way with total compliance to. the rule of law.
