INEC To Introduce Voter Registration Online

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC is introducing a Portal to enable eligible Nigerans commence online Voter registration before completing the exercise physically at designated counters nationwide.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu stated this at the second quarterly meeting with media executives in Abuja.

Professor Yakubu Who said the measure was to deepen the use of technology in the electioneering process urged the media to support the initiative.

He Commended the media and called for more support towards the success of the Voter Registration.

According to the INEC Chairman, the exercise which will last for one year will provide opportunity for those who turned eighteen after the last Registration and those that are over eighteen years but have not registered.

Responding, National President Nigera Union of Journalists NUJ Comrade Chris Isiguzo appreciated INEC for carrying the media along in its activities.

The NUJ president assured that journalists would continue to be objective in their reportage and contribute to national development.

Comrade Isiguzo however urged INEC to use the remaining off session elections in Anambra, Ekiti and Osun States to deepen the use of Technology before the twenty-twenty three general election.
