INEC Takes To The Streets To Sensitize Residents On Continuous Voter Reg

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has organised a roadshow to sensitise FCT residents on the Continuous Voter Registration scheduled to commence this month across the country..

The Deputy Director, Voter Education Division, INEC Mrs Mary Nkem while speaking during the roadshow said that the commission was fully ready for resumption of the exercise in the Six Area Councils of the FCT.

Nkem said the roadshow which took off from the INEC Headquarters went to Federal Secretariat, Asokoro, AYA Roundabout, Garki Market, Area 11, Wuse Market and Utako Market to sensitise and mobilise eligible voters in the FCT for the exercise.

According to her, the exercise is also to sensitise those who have turned 18 after the last registration exercise, or those who are more than 18 years but have never registered.

Mrs Nkem further explained that the exercise was also for those who have issues with their accreditation during the past elections, those that have issues with their Permanent Voter Cards or their biometric details.

She said that the exercise taking place from 9am to 3pm from Monday to Friday, excluding weekends, would have two processes, that is online pre-registration and physical registration.

She said the commission would also come up with the guidelines for collection of PVCs.

The roadshow was used to sensitise FCT residents in different languages including English, pidgin, Hausa, Ibo and Yoruba.

Fliers containing the details information on the process, time and date for the exercise were also distributed to residents.
